Momentum toward HR-IT integration

In July 2025, Moderna, a $3.2 billion-revenue biotechnology company, announced their ”trailblazing decision to combine its HR and IT teams into one department – People and Digital Technology”. I am super jazzed for this approach to become more prevalent and I am all for it. Have been for years.

Opportunities for HR and IT to partner up exist at every stage of the employee life cycle. The guiding philosophy of my HR practice has been to integrate with IT operations all along. Seeing more industry leaders shifting to this model and start to adopt this way of thinking is exciting and inspiring.

Not only are several fundemental concepts of cybersecurity relevant to HR professionals, but when you take a moment to think about it, we have always the same group of clients as the IT department - the end users.
